Indications

Cefuracet (Cefuroxime) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is effective in the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis, otitis media, and pneumonia. It is also used in urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and some gynecological infections. Cefuroxime is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the death of susceptible bacteria.

Composition

Each Cefuracet tablet contains 500 mg of cefuroxime axetil as the active ingredient. Excipients: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Cefuracet should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefuroxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics, or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in those with a history of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Cefuracet to patients with a history of allergies, especially to antibiotics. Monitoring is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency, as dose adjustment may be necessary. Furthermore, the possibility of gastrointestinal adverse effects and the possibility of superinfections due to prolonged use should be considered.
