Indications
Ceftrex is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to ceftriaxone. It is used in lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, bacterial meningitis, septicemia, and skin and soft tissue infections. It can also be used in the prophylaxis of infections during surgical procedures, as well as in empirical therapy in situations of sepsis or community-acquired pneumonia.
Composition
Each ampoule contains: Ceftriaxone 500 mg, excipients: sodium chloride, water for injection.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to neonates requiring calcium treatment, due to the risk of precipitation of ceftriaxone and calcium salts.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially ulcerative colitis, as well as in those with renal or hepatic insufficiency. It is important to assess renal function, as ceftriaxone is predominantly excreted by this route. Furthermore, care should be taken when used in patients with a history of allergies to other beta-lactam antibiotics.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, protected from light and humidity. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
