Indications
Cefaxona I is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to ceftriaxone. It is used in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, bacterial meningitis, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as osteoarticular infections. It is also used in the prophylaxis of surgical infections in high-risk procedures.
Composition
Each ampoule of Cefaxona I contains 500 mg of ceftriaxone as the active ingredient, and excipients: water for injection, sodium chloride, and hydrochloric acid.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone, other cephalosporin antibiotics, or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other beta-lactam antibiotics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis, as well as in those with renal or hepatic insufficiency. Appropriate monitoring of renal and hepatic function is recommended during treatment. Ceftriaxone can cause serious adverse reactions, requiring constant monitoring during medication use.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the label.
