Indications

Ceftriaxone, the active ingredient in Cefaxona, is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the cephalosporin class. It is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections, including:

• Lower respiratory tract infections, such as community-acquired pneumonia and nosocomial pneumonia.
• Complicated urinary tract infections.
• Intra-abdominal infections.
• Skin and soft tissue infections.
• Sepsis and septicemia.
• Bacterial meningitis in adults and children.
• Prophylaxis in high-risk surgeries.

Composition

Each vial of Cefaxona contains 1 g of ceftriaxone as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the drug's formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone, other cephalosporins, or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe allergies to antibiotics.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in the following cases:

• Patients with a history of kidney or liver disease.
• Patients with gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis.
• Concomitant use with other medications that may affect renal function.
• Pregnancy and lactation, where the benefit must be weighed against the risk.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
