Indications

Cedax (ceftibutene) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. This medication is mainly used in the treatment of:

  • Upper respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and pharyngitis.
  • Lower respiratory tract infections, including acute bronchitis and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
  • Middle ear infections (otitis media).
  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections.

Its use should be based on the susceptibility of the causative microorganisms, and culture and sensitivity tests are recommended to ensure treatment effectiveness.

Composition

Each Cedax capsule contains 400 mg of ceftibutene as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients necessary for the capsule formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ceftibutene, other beta-lactam antibiotics, or any of the formula's components. It should not be administered to patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to antibiotics.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, as dose adjustment may be necessary. In addition, it is recommended to monitor kidney function during treatment. In case of severe diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
