Indications
Cardura is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure, as well as for the management of symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Doxazosin acts as an alpha-1 receptor antagonist, which causes relaxation of the muscles in the walls of blood vessels, thereby decreasing vascular resistance and facilitating blood flow. In the case of BPH, doxazosin helps to relieve symptoms related to an enlarged prostate, such as difficulty initiating urination, urgent need to urinate, and nocturnal urinary frequency.
Composition
Each Cardura tablet contains 4 mg of doxazosin, as well as appropriate excipients for its formulation.
Contraindications
Cardura is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to doxazosin or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of orthostatic hypotension or in those who are being treated with other antihypertensives that may cause adverse interactions.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Cardura to patients with a history of heart disease, hepatic or renal insufficiency. It is important to monitor blood pressure during the start of treatment and when adjusting the dose to avoid episodes of hypotension. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
