Indications

Cardura (doxazosin) is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension. This medication acts as a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist, resulting in the dilation of blood vessels and, consequently, in the reduction of blood pressure. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), helping to improve urinary flow and reduce obstructive and irritative symptoms associated with this condition. Cardura tablets should be administered once daily, preferably at the same time, to maintain stable drug levels in the body.

Composition

Each Cardura tablet contains 2 mg of doxazosin as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose, corn starch, talc, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation and stability of the medication.

Contraindications

Cardura is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to doxazosin or any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment. Furthermore, it should be administered with caution in patients with a history of orthostatic hypotension.

Precautions

Caution is advised when initiating treatment in patients with a history of dehydration, heart failure, or those taking other antihypertensive drugs. It is important to monitor blood pressure at the start of treatment due to the risk of hypotension. Cardura should not be discontinued abruptly, as this may cause a rebound effect on blood pressure.

Storage

Store Cardura in its original packaging, at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
