Indications
Carbolit (Lithium Carbonate) is indicated for the treatment of bipolar disorders, including manic and depressive episodes. It is frequently used in the management of manic-depressive illness, as well as for the prevention of relapses in patients with a history of manic or mixed episodes. This medication works by stabilizing mood and reducing the intensity of emotional changes associated with these disorders. It is essential that the use of Carbolit be supervised by a physician, who will evaluate the suitability of the treatment and carry out the necessary monitoring during its use.
Composition
Each Carbolit tablet contains 300 mg of Lithium Carbonate as the active ingredient and excipients necessary for the formulation.
Contraindications
Carbolit is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lithium carbonate or any component of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of severe kidney disease, severe heart disease, dehydration, or central nervous system disorders. Its use during pregnancy and lactation must be carefully evaluated by a physician, as it may have adverse effects on the fetus or infant.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of blood lithium levels, as well as kidney and thyroid function, is recommended during treatment with Carbolit. It is important to avoid dehydration and the concomitant use of diuretics, as they can increase the risk of lithium toxicity. Additionally, interactions with other medications the patient is taking should be considered, and the physician should be informed of any pre-existing medical conditions.
