Indications

Butronin is indicated for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents. Methylphenidate acts as a central nervous system stimulant and helps improve attention, concentration, and reduce impulsivity and hyperactivity in appropriately diagnosed patients. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of narcolepsy, a condition characterized by episodes of extreme sleepiness and sleep attacks.

Composition

Each Butronin tablet contains 10 mg of methylphenidate as hydrochloride.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to methylphenidate or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of glaucoma, hyperactive thyroidism, severe anxiety, or in patients with a history of substance abuse. Likewise, its use is contraindicated in people undergoing treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within two weeks following the discontinuation of such treatment.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, psychiatric problems, or seizures. It is important to monitor weight and growth in children and adolescents during treatment, as well as to periodically assess the clinical response to the medication. Methylphenidate should be administered at the minimum effective dose.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and out of reach of children.
