Indications
Bufigen (Nalbuphine) is indicated for the management of moderate to severe pain, as well as in clinical situations requiring potent analgesics. It is used in the treatment of postoperative pain and pain associated with conditions such as trauma, cancer, and surgical procedures. Nalbuphine is an opioid analgesic that acts on opioid receptors in the central nervous system, providing an effective analgesic effect. Furthermore, it has been used in the management of pain in terminally ill patients, helping to improve their quality of life by alleviating suffering. The administration of Bufigen may be considered in patients who have a contraindication to the use of other opioid analgesics or who require an alternative to them. It is essential that the dosage is adjusted individually, considering the severity of the pain and the patient's clinical response to the therapy. This medication can also be used in multimodal analgesia protocols, where it is combined with other agents to maximize analgesic effects and minimize adverse effects.
Composition
Each Bufigen ampoule contains 10 mg of nalbuphine as an active ingredient, as well as excipients suitable for the injectable formulation.
Contraindications
Bufigen is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nalbuphine or to any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe respiratory depression, acute bronchial asthma, or those in a coma. Likewise, it should not be administered to patients with a history of drug or alcohol abuse.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, as well as in those with chronic lung diseases. The use of nalbuphine may cause adverse reactions in elderly or debilitated patients, so a thorough clinical evaluation is recommended before administration.
Storage
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.
