Indications

Brilinta (ticagrelor) is indicated for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), including myocardial infarction and unstable angina. Its use is recommended in patients who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or in those at high risk of developing cardiovascular complications. Additionally, Brilinta can be used in dual antiplatelet therapy, in combination with acetylsalicylic acid, to reduce the incidence of adverse cardiovascular events in patients with a history of myocardial infarction.

Composition

Each Brilinta tablet contains 90 mg of ticagrelor, as well as excipients such as lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, among others, which facilitate its formulation and absorption. It is important to review the package insert for all components.

Contraindications

Brilinta is contraindicated in patients with a history of intracranial hemorrhage or significant active bleeding, as well as in those with known hypersensitivity to ticagrelor or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients at risk of bleeding, including those with a history of peptic ulcers or bleeding disorders. Careful evaluation is also recommended for patients with moderate to severe renal impairment. Interaction with other medications, such as CYP3A4 inhibitors, should be considered, and concomitant use with certain drugs that may increase the risk of bleeding should be avoided.

Storage

Store at room temperature (between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius) in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
