Indications
Braxan is indicated for the treatment of various cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and ventricular tachycardia. Its use is essential in patients at risk of sustained ventricular tachycardias, as well as in those with ventricular dysfunction associated with myocardial infarction. Amiodarone acts by restoring normal heart rhythm and preventing the recurrence of arrhythmic episodes. In addition, it is used in emergency situations for the management of life-threatening arrhythmias. It is important that its use be supervised by a specialist physician, who will assess the need for its administration and proper monitoring during treatment.
Composition
Each Braxan tablet contains 200 mg of amiodarone as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amiodarone or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with interstitial lung disease, uncontrolled thyroid dysfunction, and in those with severe bradycardia or second- and third-degree atrioventricular block without a pacemaker. Furthermore, it should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation, unless the physician deems it absolutely necessary.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with pre-existing liver or lung diseases, as well as in those who are undergoing concomitant treatment with other medications that may interact with amiodarone. Regular medical follow-up is recommended to evaluate thyroid function and lung function during treatment. Likewise, it is suggested to avoid excessive sun exposure due to possible photosensitivity associated with the use of this medication.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
