Indications
Boostrix is indicated for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough in adults and adolescents aged 10 years and older. This vaccine is a booster for those who have completed their initial vaccination schedule, providing additional protection against these diseases. It is recommended to administer the vaccine every 10 years to maintain adequate immunity, especially in people who are in close contact with children under 7 years of age, who are more vulnerable to these diseases.
Composition
Each 0.5 mL dose of Boostrix contains inactivated components of diphtheria and tetanus toxins, as well as Bordetella pertussis antigens. In addition, it contains excipients that help stabilize and preserve the vaccine's efficacy.
Contraindications
Boostrix is contraindicated in individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions to vaccine components, as well as in those who have experienced encephalopathy of unknown cause within 7 days after the administration of a pertussis vaccine. Caution should also be exercised in those with acute febrile illness or moderate to severe acute infections.
Precautions
It is recommended to evaluate the patient's general health status before vaccine administration. If the patient has experienced adverse reactions to vaccines in the past, a doctor should be consulted. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before vaccination.
Storage
Boostrix should be stored refrigerated at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light.
