Bicartial is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adult patients, as well as for the reduction of the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension and ischemic heart disease or type 2 diabetes mellitus with target organ damage. This medication combines two antihypertensive agents: amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker that helps relax blood vessels, and losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that prevents their constriction, thus achieving a reduction in blood pressure.
Composition
Each Bicartial capsule contains: 5 mg of amlodipine (as besylate) and 100 mg of losartan (as losartan potassium).
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, in those with a history of angioedema related to prior use of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin receptor antagonists, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with aortic stenosis, heart failure, a history of angioedema, conditions predisposing to hypovolemia, and in those with moderate liver or kidney disease. Blood pressure monitoring is necessary during treatment.
Storage
Store in its original packaging at room temperature, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
