Indications
Bentyl (dicycloverine) is indicated for the treatment of abdominal cramps and gastrointestinal spasms. It is used in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and other functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract where relaxation of smooth muscles is required. It may also be useful in the management of pain associated with renal and biliary colic. Dicycloverine acts as an antispasmodic, reducing gastrointestinal tract motility and relieving pain associated with muscle spasms. It is important to follow medical instructions and not exceed the recommended dose.
Composition
Each Bentyl tablet contains 10 mg of dicycloverine as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dicycloverine or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, gastrointestinal tract obstruction, or those with urinary retention conditions. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Bentyl to patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or respiratory problems. It is important to monitor the response to treatment, especially in the elderly, who may be more sensitive to the effects of the medication. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as it may increase sedative effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
