Indications
Bactroban Ointment is indicated for the treatment of superficial bacterial skin infections, as well as for the eradication of Staphylococcus aureus nasal carriage. It is effective in the treatment of impetigo, folliculitis, and other types of infected dermatitis. Mupirocin works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, which helps stop their growth and spread.
This medication is primarily used for localized skin lesions and should be applied directly to the affected area. It is recommended to follow the prescribing physician's instructions regarding the duration of treatment and frequency of application.
Composition
Each gram of ointment contains 20 mg of mupirocin as the active ingredient. Excipients: petrolatum, lanolin, and other inactive components.
Contraindications
Bactroban Ointment is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be applied to large areas of skin or mucous membranes, as it may cause local irritation.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with a history of allergic reactions. Also, avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. In case of adverse reactions, it is recommended to discontinue treatment and consult a physician.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30°C. Keep the product in its original packaging and out of the reach of children.
