Indications
Avelox is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in adults. These include, among others, community-acquired pneumonia, skin and skin structure infections, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. Moxifloxacin, the active ingredient in Avelox, works by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis, resulting in the death of susceptible bacteria. Its use must be evaluated by a physician, who will determine the need for treatment based on the specific infection and the patient's profile.
Composition
Each ampoule of Avelox contains 400 mg of moxifloxacin, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
Avelox is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of tendon problems, especially those who have experienced Achilles tendon rupture associated with fluoroquinolone use. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions
It is important that patients inform their doctor about any pre-existing conditions, especially liver disease, heart problems (such as prolonged QT interval), or epilepsy. Avelox may cause side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness, so caution should be exercised when driving or performing activities that require alertness. Renal function should be monitored in patients with conditions that may affect their function.
Storage
Store in its original packaging, protected from light and at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Avoid contact with moisture and keep out of reach of children.
