Indications

Avelox is indicated for the treatment of acute and complicated bacterial infections, including:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections, such as community-acquired pneumonia and acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections, including abscesses and cellulitis.
  • Complicated intra-abdominal infections.
  • Complicated urinary tract infections.

Moxifloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis, which prevents the replication and growth of susceptible bacteria.

Composition

Each Avelox tablet contains:

  • Moxifloxacin (as moxifloxacin hydrochloride) 400 mg.
  • Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and others.

Contraindications

Avelox is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone class antibiotics.
  • Patients with a history of tendinopathy associated with fluoroquinolone use.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in the following cases:

  • Patients with a history of central nervous system disorders, such as epilepsy.
  • Patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure during treatment.

Storage

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, in a dry place and out of reach of children.
