Indications
Augmentin is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. These include, but are not limited to:
- Upper respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and otitis media.
- Lower respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia.
- Urinary tract infections, such as cystitis and pyelonephritis.
- Skin and soft tissue infections, including cellulitis and abscesses.
- Intra-abdominal infections.
The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate allows this medication to act against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, which can inactivate amoxicillin alone.
Composition
Each Augmentin 12H tablet contains:
- Amoxicillin: 875 mg
- Clavulanate: 125 mg
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanate, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with amoxicillin/clavulanate administration.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, renal insufficiency, and those undergoing anticoagulant therapy. It is important to monitor patients with severe diarrhea during treatment, as it may be indicative of pseudomembranous colitis.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
