Indications
Atrovent is indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma. This medication acts as an anticholinergic bronchodilator, meaning it helps to relax and open the airways in the lungs, thus facilitating breathing. It is particularly useful for patients experiencing breathing difficulties due to muscle constriction in the airways. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, providing relief from nasal symptoms.
Composition
Each ml of Atrovent contains 250 mcg of ipratropium bromide as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for its correct formulation and administration.
Contraindications
Atrovent should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to ipratropium bromide, other atropine derivatives, or any component of the formula. Furthermore, its use in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma is not recommended.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Atrovent to patients with a history of urinary problems, prostatic hypertrophy, or cardiovascular diseases. It is important to monitor patients who exhibit symptoms of paradoxical bronchospasm, as a worsening of breathing may occur in rare cases after using the medication.
Storage
The product should be stored at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
