Indications
Atarax (hydroxyzine) is indicated for the treatment of various conditions related to anxiety and insomnia. Its use is appropriate for patients suffering from anxiety disorders, as well as those requiring pre-operative sedation. Additionally, it is used in the management of skin manifestations of allergic diseases, such as urticaria and dermatitis. Hydroxyzine acts as an antihistamine that blocks the action of histamine, providing a sedative and anxiolytic effect, making it a useful option for improving sleep quality and reducing anxiety in specific situations.
Composition
Each Atarax tablet contains 25 mg of hydroxyzine as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the tablet formulation.
Contraindications
The use of Atarax is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution should be exercised when administering it to patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias, narrow-angle glaucoma, and those with severe respiratory conditions. Its use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended unless strictly necessary and under strict medical supervision.
Precautions
Medical follow-up is recommended during treatment with Atarax, especially in elderly patients or those with liver or kidney diseases. Alcohol intake should be avoided during treatment, as it may potentiate the sedative effects of hydroxyzine. Likewise, caution should be exercised when driving or operating heavy machinery, due to the potential sedative effect of the medication.
