Indications
Atacand Plus is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. Its combination of candesartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic, acts synergistically to effectively reduce blood pressure. This medication can be used as initial therapy or as additional treatment in patients who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with a single drug. Furthermore, it can be beneficial in patients with comorbid conditions such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease, where blood pressure control is essential to prevent cardiovascular complications.
Composition
Each tablet of Atacand Plus contains 16 mg of candesartan cilexetil and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide as active ingredients. In addition, it contains excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Atacand Plus is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formula. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers. It should not be administered in cases of severe renal failure or in patients with anuria.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Atacand Plus to patients with a history of cardiovascular, renal, or hepatic diseases. It is advisable to monitor blood pressure and electrolytes in patients undergoing diuretic treatment or those at risk of dehydration. Likewise, the possibility of adverse effects in the geriatric population and in patients with diabetes mellitus should be considered.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the package.
