Indications
Atacand (candesartan) is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of angiotensin II receptors, which leads to a reduction in blood pressure. It is also used in chronic heart failure, in combination with other agents, to improve cardiac function and decrease mortality in patients with this condition. It is important that the use of Atacand is under appropriate medical supervision, as the dosage must be adjusted according to the patient's response and underlying medical conditions.
Composition
Each tablet of Atacand contains 32 mg of candesartan cilexetil as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication and its adequate bioavailability.
Contraindications
Atacand is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to candesartan or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment and in those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, due to the possible adverse effects on the fetus or infant.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Atacand in patients with a history of angioedema or those with conditions that may predispose to hypotension. Likewise, monitoring is required in patients with kidney disease, as the use of angiotensin receptor blockers can affect renal function. It is recommended to check renal function and potassium levels before starting treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
