Indications
Atacand is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. This medication works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, which lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. It can also be used for heart failure in patients who cannot tolerate angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It can be administered alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs to achieve better blood pressure control.
Composition
Each Atacand tablet contains 16 mg of candesartan cilexetil as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to candesartan or to any of the excipients. Furthermore, it should not be administered to patients with severe liver failure, biliary obstruction, or during pregnancy and lactation, due to possible adverse effects on the fetus or infant.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with renal artery stenosis, renal failure, or in those being treated with diuretics. It is important to monitor renal function and blood electrolytes during treatment. Likewise, the possibility of hypotension should be considered, especially in patients initiating treatment or who are on concomitant diuretic therapy.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
