Indications

Arimidex is indicated for the treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone-dependent breast cancer, in whom the disease has been shown to be estrogen receptor positive. This medication is used as adjuvant therapy after surgery and radiation therapy, as well as for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in women who have previously received tamoxifen treatment. Anastrozole acts by inhibiting aromatase, a key enzyme in estrogen production, which contributes to the reduction of hormone-dependent tumor progression.

Composition

Each Arimidex tablet contains 1 mg of anastrozole as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients such as lactose, corn starch, and other inactive components.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to anastrozole or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver diseases.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, or previous fractures. Bone density monitoring is recommended in women on long-term anastrozole treatment. It is also important to consider evaluation of liver and kidney function before starting treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
