Indications
Aranesp (Darbepoetin Alfa) is indicated for the treatment of anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) requiring renal replacement therapy, as well as in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy who have anemia. This drug works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce red blood cells, helping to increase hemoglobin levels in the blood.
It is important to consider that the use of Aranesp should be under strict medical supervision, as correcting anemia can improve the patient's quality of life and functional capacity. The need for treatment should be evaluated based on hemoglobin levels and the patient's clinical conditions.
Composition
Each syringe contains 30 mcg of Darbepoetin Alfa, an agent that mimics the action of endogenous erythropoietin.
Contraindications
Aranesp is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Darbepoetin Alfa or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with anemia caused by iron deficiency or hemorrhage. It is also contraindicated in those with uncontrolled hypertension.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, as the use of Aranesp may increase the risk of cardiovascular events. Hemoglobin levels should also be regularly monitored to avoid excessive elevations.
Storage
Store in refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
