Indications
Albunate 25% is indicated for the treatment of various clinical conditions that require the administration of albumin, an essential component of blood. This medication is used in situations such as:
- Hypovolemic shock due to hemorrhage or fluid loss.
- Hypoalbuminemia in patients with liver diseases or nephrotic syndrome.
- Volume replacement in patients with severe burns.
- Treatment of ascites in patients with liver cirrhosis.
- Surgical procedures that require intravascular volume expansion.
Human albumin can also be used as part of treatment in emergency situations where rapid restoration of blood volume is crucial.
Composition
Each ampoule of Albunate 25% contains 12.5 g of human albumin in a sterile solution, with a total content of 50 mL.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to human albumin or any of the excipients. It should also be avoided in cases of congestive heart failure or pulmonary edema, as well as in patients who present complications requiring volume restriction.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with heart or lung diseases, as well as in those with a history of allergic reactions. It is essential to monitor electrolyte levels and kidney function during albumin administration. Administration should be carried out under strict medical supervision to avoid complications.
Storage
Albunate 25% should be stored at temperatures between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep the product in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
