Indications
Akineton is indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's symptoms and for the treatment of extrapyramidal effects induced by antipsychotic drugs. It is used to relieve rigidity, tremors, and bradykinesia in patients with Parkinson's disease. In addition, it is useful for the management of tardive dyskinesia and other movement disorders related to the use of antipsychotic medications.
Composition
Each Akineton tablet contains 2 mg of biperiden as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.
Contraindications
Akineton is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to biperiden or any of the excipients. It should not be used in individuals with closed-angle glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, or in conditions where anticholinergics are contraindicated. Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular diseases, peptic ulcers, or urinary retention.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in elderly patients, as they may be more susceptible to anticholinergic effects. Likewise, patients with a history of mental health problems should be monitored, as Akineton may worsen certain psychiatric conditions. It is important to evaluate liver and kidney function before starting treatment and during its use.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
