Indications
Zytiga (abiraterone) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. This medication is used in combination with prednisone to improve survival and delay disease progression. Its use is recommended in patients who have received previous treatments with docetaxel and in those who have not received previous chemotherapy but have metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Composition
Each Zytiga tablet contains 500 mg of abiraterone as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication, which are necessary for the stability and efficacy of the product.
Contraindications
Zytiga is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to abiraterone or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as it may cause harm to the fetus or newborn.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, as abiraterone may increase the risk of cardiovascular adverse effects. Furthermore, it is recommended to monitor potassium levels and liver function before and during treatment, as these may influence the safety and efficacy of the medication.
Storage
Store in its original packaging, protected from light and moisture. Keep at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
