Indications
Zyrtec (Cetirizine) is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, rhinorrhea (nasal discharge), itching of the nose or throat, and watery eyes. It is also used in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria to relieve itching and the appearance of hives on the skin. This medication works by blocking histamine H1 receptors, thereby reducing the effects of allergic reactions.
Composition
Each 5 ml of solution contains: Cetirizine 5 mg.
Contraindications
Zyrtec is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cetirizine, to any component of the formula, or to other antihistamines. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures, liver disease, or those who are being treated with other drugs that may depress the central nervous system. It is important to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment, as it may enhance the sedative effects of the medication. In elderly patients, dose adjustment and monitoring of renal function are recommended.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
