Indications
Zyrtec is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis symptoms, including sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose and eyes, and nasal congestion. It is also used to relieve symptoms of chronic urticaria, such as itching and hives. Cetirizine, its active ingredient, works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance the body produces during an allergic reaction.
Composition
Each tablet contains 10 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Zyrtec is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cetirizine or any of the excipients of the product. It should also be avoided in patients with severe renal impairment and in those who experience adverse reactions to other antihistamines.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of seizures, as there is a potential risk of adverse effects. Likewise, it should be used with caution in patients with moderate to severe liver disease. It may cause drowsiness; therefore, driving and operating heavy machinery should be avoided during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. The storage temperature should not exceed 30°C.
