Indications
Zyprexa is indicated for the treatment of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder. It is also used as maintenance treatment in patients with bipolar disorder. Olanzapine acts on certain neurotransmitters in the brain, helping to stabilize mood and control psychotic symptoms. Its use must be supervised by a doctor, who will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment according to the patient's needs.
Composition
Each Zyprexa ampule contains 10 mg of olanzapine as the active ingredient. In addition, it may contain excipients that facilitate the administration of the medicine.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olanzapine or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of closed-angle glaucoma or in those with a history of severe adverse reactions to other antipsychotics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver or kidney disease, and in those with a history of seizures. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is important, as olanzapine may increase the risk of developing diabetes mellitus. Likewise, it is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
