Indications
Zovirax cream is indicated for the treatment of skin and mucous membrane infections caused by herpes simplex viruses, including oral and genital herpes. It is also used in the treatment of herpetic lesions in immunocompromised patients and for the prevention of recurrent outbreaks in patients with a history of herpes simplex infections. Its use must be under the supervision of a healthcare professional, who will determine the duration of treatment and frequency of application according to the patient's characteristics and the severity of the infection.
Composition
Each gram of cream contains 50 mg of Acyclovir as the active ingredient. Excipients: cetostearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, purified water, among others.
Contraindications
Zovirax cream is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Acyclovir or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended for herpes infections in extensive skin areas or in cases of dermatitis. Do not apply to eyes or mucous membranes.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with compromised renal function, as there may be an increase in systemic absorption of the medication. Likewise, it is important to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. In case of adverse reactions, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. It is recommended to avoid the use of this medication in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless strictly necessary and under medical indication.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
