Indications
Zoitol (Anastrozole) is indicated for the treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone-dependent breast cancer in early and advanced stages. This medication is used as adjuvant therapy in patients who have received prior treatment with tamoxifen. It is also used in the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer in women who have progressed through previous tamoxifen treatment. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of aromatase, an enzyme essential for estrogen production, which reduces cell proliferation in hormone-dependent tumors.
Composition
Each Zoitol tablet contains 1 mg of anastrozole as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that ensure the stability and absorption of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to anastrozole or any of the excipients. It should not be used in premenopausal women, or in those with a history of severe cardiovascular disease or severe liver disorders. Its use during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of bone disease, as the use of anastrozole may increase the risk of fractures. Regular monitoring of bone mineral density and consideration of adjuvant treatments for bone health as needed are suggested. Additionally, liver function should be evaluated before starting treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
