Indications

Zivata is indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men, where the goal is to reduce prostate size, thereby improving associated urinary symptoms such as difficulty initiating urination, decreased urinary flow, and the need to urinate frequently, particularly at night. Dutasteride works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other BPH treatments.

Composition

Each Zivata capsule contains 0.5 mg of dutasteride as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dutasteride or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to women, especially during pregnancy or lactation, as it can cause malformations in the male fetus. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver damage.

Precautions

Caution is advised when administering Zivata to patients with a history of liver disease, as well as those who may be receiving other medications that affect liver function. Regular monitoring of prostatic symptoms and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in men undergoing treatment is important. Blood should not be donated during treatment and for at least six months after discontinuing it, to avoid accidental exposure to pregnant women.
