Indications

Zintreprid is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia (type IIa) and mixed dyslipidemia (type IIb) as an adjunct to an appropriate diet. This medication is used in patients who have not responded adequately to diet and other non-pharmacological treatments. Zintreprid can be used in combination with other lipid-lowering agents in patients who require an additional reduction in LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Its use is also indicated in patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease, to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events, in combination with lifestyle changes.

Composition

Each Zintreprid tablet contains 10 mg of Ezetimibe and 40 mg of Simvastatin as active ingredients. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, as well as in those with persistent elevations of liver transaminases. It is also contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Zintreprid to patients with a history of liver or muscle disease. Regular monitoring of liver transaminases is important during treatment. Patients should be informed about the possibility of developing myalgia or muscle weakness and should be instructed to report any unusual symptoms.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, and keep out of reach of children.
