Indications
Zestril is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. This medication works by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which results in the relaxation of blood vessels and a decrease in blood pressure. In addition, it is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients, as well as in the treatment of congestive heart failure.
It is important that the use of Zestril be supervised by a doctor, who will evaluate the appropriate dose and patient monitoring, considering the conditions and response to treatment.
Composition
Each Zestril tablet contains 5 mg of lisinopril as the active ingredient. Excipients are: lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
Zestril is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to lisinopril or any other ACE inhibitor. It should not be administered to patients with hereditary or idiopathic angioedema, nor to those with severe renal insufficiency or during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with renal artery stenosis, moderate renal insufficiency, or those undergoing treatment with diuretics. Regular monitoring of renal function and blood electrolytes is essential. In diabetic patients, the possible interaction with hypoglycemic medications should be considered.
