Indications

Zestril is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. Its use helps to lower blood pressure, which can reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, including heart attacks and strokes. It is also used in patients with left ventricular dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction. Additionally, it can be used for the treatment of congestive heart failure, in combination with other medications, to improve patient survival and quality of life. Lisinopril acts by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, resulting in vasodilation and decreased peripheral vascular resistance.

Composition

Each Zestril tablet contains 20 mg of lisinopril as the active ingredient, as well as excipients such as corn starch, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Zestril is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to lisinopril or other ACE inhibitors. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to ACE inhibitor treatment, as well as in those with bilateral renal artery stenosis or severe renal insufficiency.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Zestril in patients with a history of kidney disease, heart failure, diabetes mellitus, and in those taking diuretics. Renal function and electrolytes should be monitored during treatment, and persistent cough, a common adverse effect associated with ACE inhibitor use, should be watched for.

Storage

Store in its original container at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
