Indications

Zestoretic is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. This medication combines an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, lisinopril, with a diuretic, hydrochlorothiazide, to offer a synergistic antihypertensive effect. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensives. Additionally, the use of Zestoretic may be beneficial in patients with congestive heart failure, as well as in the prevention of cardiovascular complications in high-risk patients.

Composition

Each Zestoretic tablet contains 20 mg of lisinopril and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide as active ingredients. In addition, it may contain excipients such as lactose, corn starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

The use of Zestoretic is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide, or any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema associated with previous ACE inhibitor treatments, as well as in those with severe renal failure, anuria, or during the third trimester of pregnancy.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Zestoretic to patients with a history of aortic stenosis, renal failure, hypokalemia, or those who are receiving other diuretics. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and electrolytes is important during treatment. Dose adjustment is recommended in patients over 65 years of age or with compromised renal function.

Storage

Store Zestoretic at room temperature, in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
