Indications
Zedesen is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is effective in the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including sinusitis, otitis media, and acute bronchitis. It is also used in uncomplicated urinary tract infections and in the treatment of pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Zedesen administration is suitable for pediatric and adult patients with bacterial infections susceptible to Ceftibuten.
Composition
Each 5 mL of the suspension contains Ceftibuten 36 mg. Excipients: purified water, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ceftibuten or to any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients who have had severe allergic reactions to other antibiotics of the cephalosporin or penicillin class.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. Its use should be monitored in patients with renal insufficiency, adjusting the dose as necessary. Prolonged use is not recommended, as it may lead to superinfection by non-susceptible microorganisms.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
