Indications

Zaf-200 (Bezafibrate) is indicated for the treatment of dyslipidemias, which are alterations in blood lipid levels, including hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia. This medication helps reduce total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins), and triglyceride levels, as well as increase HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoproteins) levels. It is especially useful in patients who have not been able to control their lipid levels through diet and exercise. Additionally, it is recommended in cases of high cardiovascular risk, where lipid control is crucial for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Bezafibrate 200 mg as active ingredient, as well as excipients: lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to bezafibrate or to any of the components of the formulation. It is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, severe renal insufficiency, and in those with a history of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis associated with the use of fibrates. Its use is also not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless deemed strictly necessary by the physician.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, myopathies, or in those taking other medications that may increase the risk of adverse effects. Regular monitoring of lipid levels and liver function during treatment is recommended. It is also suggested to evaluate renal function before starting treatment and during its use, especially in elderly patients.
