Indications
Zactos (Pioglitazone) is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adult patients. It is used as an oral hypoglycemic agent in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control through diet and exercise, or in combination with other oral antidiabetics. Zactos can be used alone or in combination with metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin, depending on the specific needs of the patient. In addition, pioglitazone has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce insulin resistance, which is crucial in the management of type 2 diabetes.
Composition
Each Zactos tablet contains 15 mg of pioglitazone as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and stability of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to pioglitazone or any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. It is also contraindicated in patients with congestive heart failure or a history of heart failure.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Zactos in patients with a history of heart disease, liver failure, or those at high risk of bone fractures. Regular monitoring of liver function and blood glucose is important while using this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before starting treatment.

Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place and out of reach of children.
