Indications

Yasmin is indicated for pregnancy prevention in women of childbearing age. Its formula combines two synthetic hormones, drospirenone and ethinylestradiol, which act synergistically to inhibit ovulation, alter cervical mucus, and modify the endometrium, creating an unfavorable environment for the implantation of a fertilized egg. Additionally, it can help regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce the intensity of periods, as well as premenstrual syndrome. It is also used in the treatment of moderate acne in women who wish to use hormonal contraception. It is important that the use of Yasmin is prescribed and supervised by a healthcare professional.

Composition

Each Yasmin tablet contains 3 mg of drospirenone and 0.03 mg of ethinylestradiol as active ingredients. Excipients are: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, talc, colloidal silica, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Yasmin is contraindicated in patients with a history of venous or arterial thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, stroke, breast or reproductive organ cancer, active liver disease, and in those who are hypersensitive to the components of this medication.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of migraines, hypertension, diabetes, or diseases that may increase the risk of thrombosis. Regular medical monitoring is essential to assess health status and treatment effectiveness. Women who smoke and are over 35 years old should consider alternative contraception.
