Indications
Xuzal 5 mg is indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, including sneezing, rhinorrhea, nasal and ocular pruritus, as well as nasal congestion. Furthermore, it is effective in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria, helping to reduce itching and the number of skin lesions. Levocetirizine acts as a selective H1 histamine receptor antagonist, which contributes to the mitigation of allergic symptoms.
Composition
Each Xuzal tablet contains 5 mg of levocetirizine dihydrochloride as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, to any other component of the formulation, or to cetirizine. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency and in those requiring drug elimination by hemodialysis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of epilepsy or seizures, as well as in those with moderate renal insufficiency. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption, as it may potentiate the sedative effects of levocetirizine. Its use is not recommended in children under 6 years of age without medical supervision.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
