Indications
Xumer is indicated for the treatment of acute pain, including postoperative pain and pain in musculoskeletal diseases. It is also useful in the management of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, alleviating symptoms such as inflammation and stiffness. This medication works by selectively inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which reduces the production of prostaglandins, substances that contribute to inflammation and pain. It is important that the use of Xumer is under the supervision of a doctor, who will evaluate the need and duration of treatment according to the patient's specific condition.
Composition
Each Xumer tablet contains 90 mg of etoricoxib as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that favor the formulation and stability of the medication.
Contraindications
Xumer is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in those with active liver disease, severe kidney failure, or in patients who have experienced severe adverse reactions to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Xumer to patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, kidney or liver failure. Regular medical monitoring is recommended during treatment, especially in elderly patients or those with pre-existing medical conditions. It is important to avoid concomitant use with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal side effects.
