Indications
Xolair (Omalizumab) is indicated for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients aged 6 years and older with moderate to severe persistent allergic asthma that is not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids. Additionally, it is used in patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria who do not respond to antihistamines. This medication acts as a monoclonal antibody that binds to immunoglobulin E (IgE), inhibiting its action and reducing the allergic response.
Composition
Each vial contains Omalizumab 150 mg in 1.2 ml of injectable solution; excipients: sodium chloride, acetic acid, water for injection.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to omalizumab or any of the formulation components. It should not be administered in cases of previous anaphylaxis to omalizumab administration.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of anaphylaxis to other medications. Patients should be monitored during and after drug administration due to the possibility of anaphylactic reactions. It is important to assess the possibility of respiratory infections, as well as the patient's vaccination status before initiating treatment.
Storage
Store refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children. The medication can be stored at room temperature (not exceeding 25°C) for up to 6 months, provided it has not been exposed to temperatures above 8°C.
