Indications

Xigduo XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used in combination with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control with metformin alone. It can be used as initial therapy in patients who have elevated blood glucose levels and require additional control. In addition, it can be used in combination with other antihyperglycemic medications when necessary.

Composition

Each Xigduo XR tablet contains 5 mg of dapagliflozin and 1000 mg of metformin.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, severe renal insufficiency, diabetic ketoacidosis, and in those who present conditions that may cause significant dehydration. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease or those with a history of severe adverse reactions to other SGLT2 inhibitors.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, recurrent urinary tract infections, and in those who may be predisposed to dehydration. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment. Likewise, patients should be informed about the signs and symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis and the importance of adequate hydration.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
