Indications

Xeljanz (tofacitinib) is indicated for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in adults, in patients who have shown an inadequate response to one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). It is also used for the treatment of juvenile idiopathic arthritis in patients aged 2 years and older who have not responded adequately to other treatments. Additionally, Xeljanz is indicated for the treatment of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults who have had an inadequate response to conventional or biological treatments. Its use has also been approved for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis in adults who have failed conventional therapy.

Composition

Each tablet contains 5 mg of tofacitinib as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, pregelatinized starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

Xeljanz is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tofacitinib or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with severe active infections, untreated tuberculosis, or known malignancies. It is contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of recurrent infections, a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and in those with impaired hepatic or renal function. Regular monitoring of hematological and lipid parameters is recommended during treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
