Indications
Xarelto is indicated for the prevention of thromboembolic events in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. It is also used in the prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, as well as in the prevention of recurrence of these conditions. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of factor Xa, which interferes with thrombin formation and, consequently, with blood clot formation.
Composition
Each Xarelto tablet contains 20 mg of rivaroxaban as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, among others. The formulation is designed to ensure the stability and efficacy of the medication.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rivaroxaban or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in those with significant active bleeding, severe liver diseases, or severe renal impairment. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Xarelto to patients at risk of bleeding, with pre-existing bleeding conditions, or those taking other anticoagulants. Regular monitoring of renal and hepatic function is important during treatment. It is recommended to evaluate the risk-benefit in elderly patients and those with conditions that may increase the risk of bleeding.
Storage
Store in its original packaging at room temperature (between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius). Keep out of reach of children and protect from light. Do not use the medication after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
