Indications

Xarelto is indicated for the prevention of thromboembolic events in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, as well as for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It is also used in the prevention of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery. The action of Rivaroxaban is based on the direct inhibition of factor Xa, which reduces thrombin formation and, consequently, blood clot formation.

Composition

Each Xarelto tablet contains 10 mg of Rivaroxaban as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

The use of Xarelto is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Rivaroxaban or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with significant active clinical bleeding, pre-existing bleeding disorders, and in those who require concomitant treatment with other anticoagulants, except in the context of transitioning to or from Xarelto.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of peptic ulcers, uncontrolled hypertension, or in those with an increased risk of bleeding. Renal function should be evaluated before starting treatment, as dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with moderate renal impairment. Furthermore, concomitant use of medications that may increase the risk of bleeding should be avoided.

Storage

Store in its original packaging, protected from light and moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
